Since it was General Conference and neither Jay or I had to worry about teaching or conducting we decided to get away for the weekend. We had built up a free hotel night so we put it to good use. The hotel we stayed at was at Boyne Mountain resort, which is the "best" ski area in Michigan. The resort was having a begining of the season festival called "Skitoberfest". They had lots of free activities. With kids, the quality of the hotel is dependent upon the size of the pool/waterpark. If that is true this hotel was a five star! Here is a look at the hotel looking up at the ski resort.
Here are the kids getting ready to swim.
Aspen cracked us up here. We asked her what in the world she was doing and she said "look I'm floating - no hands!".
Brighton loved the indoor basketball. He would dunk the ball, climb into the pool to get the ball, and then climb out of the pool, run over to the hoop and dunk the ball again.
He got tired of getting in and out of the pool to get the basketball and wanted us to get it for him. This is the fit he threw when we wouldn't fetch his ball for him.
Aspen's "take a picture of me" smile.
Brighton and Daddy on the slide, Brighton loved this slide and went on it 20+ times. He would always raise his hands the whole side down.
Autumn loved the slide too, of course. We kept losing her because she would hope off the slide and run to the top to do it again and again.
Aspen floating in the lazy river
Autumn, Brighton and Jay on the lazy river. As you can see brighton was cold and wanted to do the waterslide again.
Jay trying to stay young. This indoor surfing was awesome, until you wreck and Jay did plenty of that. He says he felt like he got beat up the next day from all the falls.
The chair lift to the top of the ski hill was open this
weekend for free!!! This is a view from the top.
This is the kids on top of the ski hill looking down. Brighton was in a really crazy mood at this point and was dancing around. We took several pictures in a row and if you look at them in sequence it looks like he is a little rapper putting on a show.
We were all pretty entertained by his crazy mood.
Another one of the free activities was a bounce house.
We were there early enough that the kids got it all to themselves.
Aspen on a pony ride.
She was the only one who would dare to do it.
The trees were starting to turn colors and it was absolutely beautiful!
It was really cold and the kids needed a blanket to stay warm, especially Autumn who loves the heat - you have to understand that most of her life was in Arizona!
On the way home we stopped at this little picnic site. It was a beautiful place to stop and eat, even if it was too cold to get out of the car to do so.
Sunday we stayed at home and watched conference. We always stay in our pajamas all day long and it's the one day we don't get ready or go anywhere. We have a tradition that we put puzzles together while watching General Conference. Autumn loves puzzles and could sit and put them together for hours, which is exactly what she did.
Autumn was showcasing her collection of all the puzzles she put together on Sunday.
We had a wonderful conference weekend filled with fun.
The best part of all was listening to conference and the wonderful messages that we heard.
It always makes you want to become a better person!

Wonderful pictures! Brings back memories of our visit last fall. I really did like the action pictures of Brighton. Nice surfing, Jay! Beautiful smiles from all of you, except Jenn, where were you?
It looks like you had a blast! Water parks at a hotel must be a Michigan thing, and I dig it! You all look so cute. I miss you guys! I miss the days when we use to hang out like everyday! Did Autumn really put together all those puzzles. Love ya! xoxo
